[00:00:00] that you always say, don't get too high.
[00:00:02] Don't get too low.
[00:00:03] Like just stay consistent, staying at this one level place.
[00:00:09] Welcome back folks.
[00:00:11] It's another episode of It's About Payroll.
[00:00:15] Episode 137, not 37, 137.
[00:00:18] And shoot, before we get into the year and season review that we're going to have on
[00:00:22] this episode, have some fun with it.
[00:00:24] What's up, what are you doing today, sir?
[00:00:27] Bless, excited to be here, bro.
[00:00:29] Just getting over this head cold that you heard a lot about.
[00:00:34] Yo, Walt was a soldier this week, man.
[00:00:37] We had so much work to do and just getting through it and pushing through.
[00:00:42] Thanks for that.
[00:00:43] Yeah, bro.
[00:00:43] Appreciate it, man.
[00:00:44] How you doing, bro?
[00:00:45] I'm all right, man.
[00:00:46] I'm excited.
[00:00:47] The holidays are here and it's always a nice energy.
[00:00:50] I like the holidays.
[00:00:51] It's always a cool energy around the holidays.
[00:00:53] Everybody has their different opinions about it.
[00:00:56] I think I just, I always, even when I was dead broke, it was always fun.
[00:01:02] You know what I mean?
[00:01:02] During the holidays, the energy was cool.
[00:01:04] Everything was good.
[00:01:05] Made the most of it.
[00:01:06] Made the most of it.
[00:01:07] I had a little coquito already today.
[00:01:09] A little coquito.
[00:01:10] All right.
[00:01:11] Your mom's coquito or?
[00:01:13] Well, no, his wifey's coquito.
[00:01:14] Wifey's all right.
[00:01:15] Yeah.
[00:01:16] My mom is in New York, but as the mother-in-law is in the wifey's coquito.
[00:01:19] Yeah.
[00:01:20] Got so.
[00:01:21] Yeah, man.
[00:01:22] It was good.
[00:01:22] Hey, man.
[00:01:23] That's it, bro.
[00:01:23] So we're going to get into a little seasoning review as we do at the end of every season.
[00:01:29] We're going to talk about what we liked about this past season.
[00:01:32] And before that though, get some pay news.
[00:01:35] What you got for us today, Walt?
[00:01:36] Man.
[00:01:37] So I was thinking about taxes.
[00:01:39] Tax season is coming around the corner.
[00:01:40] So if you're listening live or listening to this episode, make sure you update your information, update and check with your employer.
[00:01:49] Make sure you got all that you need updated.
[00:01:52] So you get your W2 or your 1099 sent to the right place, or you have access to it to get the digital copy of it as well.
[00:02:00] So I articles from www.ussc.gov.
[00:02:07] And it has some quick facts about tax fraud in the United States.
[00:02:13] Mind you, this is from 2022, but the show link will be in the show notes.
[00:02:18] Yes.
[00:02:19] Yes.
[00:02:19] So it talked about the offender demographics, right?
[00:02:22] So they're typically male.
[00:02:23] 74% of offenders are male that commit tax fraud.
[00:02:28] 91% of them are U.S. citizens.
[00:02:31] About 9 or 10% of them are non-U.S. citizens.
[00:02:35] When it comes to the race or ethnicity, 50, almost 53% of the perpetrators are white.
[00:02:43] About 26% are black.
[00:02:45] And 53%, around 16% are Hispanic.
[00:02:49] All righty then.
[00:02:49] The average sentence is about 14 months.
[00:02:53] And the sentencing guidelines, I think they said it's done because, like I said, 65% within guideline range.
[00:03:00] I don't know what that means.
[00:03:02] Go ahead.
[00:03:02] Within the sentencing guideline range.
[00:03:04] And so, and then the financial impact, which I have found interesting here, is that they said, per offense, the average tax loss is a little over a million dollars.
[00:03:15] Yep.
[00:03:15] And that's crazy because it kind of, how can I say, confirms a suspicion I had or a feeling I had with the true crimes that we do, right?
[00:03:24] In the true crimes, I feel like people are getting millions of dollars.
[00:03:29] Yep.
[00:03:29] And get 18 months in jail.
[00:03:32] Now, I know not everybody's going to be able to do the 18 months well or good.
[00:03:37] But I feel like if you stole, if you were smart and stole millions of dollars and you did the right thing with it, you come back home to a bag.
[00:03:44] Yeah.
[00:03:44] Right.
[00:03:44] So, I think the, I don't know.
[00:03:46] Oh, no, wait.
[00:03:47] There are fines attached to it, too.
[00:03:49] And they're fines and they have to repay it.
[00:03:51] So, they probably have to.
[00:03:52] They probably don't have a payment plan for the rest of their life.
[00:03:54] But still, if you save that, those millions and or just something smart with it, invested it smart, like in somebody else's name.
[00:04:03] But I don't know.
[00:04:04] I just felt, I feel like the punishment doesn't match the crime.
[00:04:07] And the numbers support that.
[00:04:10] Yeah, man.
[00:04:11] All right.
[00:04:11] So, what you got for us, bro?
[00:04:12] I got a little spotlight on small business.
[00:04:15] As we always talk about, oh, man, there's so many payroll vendors, market softwares, and this and that.
[00:04:22] And the third, here's one out of San Francisco called Homebase.
[00:04:26] And they are all-in-one HR and team management solution for small businesses.
[00:04:31] They're celebrating a decade of empowering hourly employees.
[00:04:36] Since its founding in 2014, Homebase has become a vital partner for small businesses, helping schedule 8 billion hours in processing over 4 million paychecks, totally 3 billion in gross payments to workers.
[00:04:50] So, there's a nice, impressive numbers.
[00:04:53] Those are the applause, right?
[00:04:55] It works.
[00:04:56] Nice.
[00:04:58] We're stepping it up, y'all, for the new year.
[00:05:02] This year has been a remarkable year for Homebase as their journey is characterized by significant growth and recognition, but also a commitment to ongoing innovation.
[00:05:12] Homebase, if you're not familiar, as I wasn't, but I love discovering and, I can't say discovering, but learning about,
[00:05:20] these new businesses out there in the world that are successful that we never hear of, right?
[00:05:25] We only hear about the same top businesses.
[00:05:27] Anyway, I love giving a little shine to these small businesses.
[00:05:30] So, not these little, these small, these, yeah, they're small business, but not highly recognized.
[00:05:36] Homebase is an everything app for hourly teams with employee scheduling, time clocks, payroll, team communication, HR, and more.

[00:06:05] What's the result?
[00:06:06] So, that's awesome.
[00:06:06] Yeah.
[00:06:07] Shout out to Homebase.
[00:06:08] And that's it, man.
[00:06:09] And before we get into it, we got a little bills to pay.
[00:06:14] Shout out to TimeTrackGo.
[00:06:16] If you are following them on social media, you will see one of their leaders dressing up as Santa Claus and doing some drops on TikTok and Instagram.

[00:07:40] Let's go, man.
[00:07:41] All right, man.
[00:07:42] We're talking about the season, our year in review, or takeaways, man.
[00:07:47] I know you got some stuff written down here.
[00:07:49] I just have the little sheet.
[00:07:50] To me, pretty much everything that you have written down is the same thing I took away.
[00:07:54] Yeah.
[00:07:55] Because it's the same.
[00:07:56] I didn't really.
[00:07:57] I just summed up the season.
[00:08:00] Like what we did this season.
[00:08:02] Because it was, you know, I don't know.
[00:08:04] It was, we covered the Wednesday's True Crime, which was great.
[00:08:07] I love that story.
[00:08:08] It was a story about a worker at Wendy's that was embezzling, really.
[00:08:14] You know, single mom, you know, making minimum wage-ish money and found a way to make some extra money.
[00:08:21] But she got caught.
[00:08:22] Audits will catch up.
[00:08:23] She was in a position where she could leverage her authority or her access.
[00:08:29] She's in a trusted position.
[00:08:30] Yeah.
[00:08:31] She did some stuff that she made a choice.
[00:08:33] Oh, thanks, man.
[00:08:34] Somebody just sent us something good looking.
[00:08:36] And I think that was for us.
[00:08:37] Thank you.
[00:08:38] Appreciate it, man.
[00:08:39] Yeah, I appreciate it, man.
[00:08:40] And so that was an interesting story.
[00:08:42] It was tough.
[00:08:43] Me and Walt had our different comments.
[00:08:45] Oh, my gosh.
[00:08:45] Is it justified?
[00:08:46] Is it that?
[00:08:47] Is it this?
[00:08:47] Anywho, that was a good one.
[00:08:49] We covered California in some, like, deductions and different payroll things.
[00:08:55] We covered earned wage access.
[00:08:58] Yep.
[00:08:59] Which is a hot topic now.
[00:09:01] EWA.
[00:09:01] It's like pay on demand for all those on live.
[00:09:04] If you have, if you're working and your company gives you the ability to get your money daily or weekly, even though your pay period is maybe every two weeks or they get, you get it early.
[00:09:13] That's called earned wage access.
[00:09:15] And it's honestly, it's facing some scrutiny.
[00:09:20] The government wants to call advanced payday loans.
[00:09:23] Well, it should be as well.
[00:09:25] Yeah.
[00:09:25] Right?
[00:09:25] And I don't think it's that.
[00:09:28] I think that knowing as a payroll professional, I know how it works and I don't think it should be considered an advanced payday loan.
[00:09:36] That's just my opinion.
[00:09:37] We try to get some of our guests to come on the show and talk about it that have in the past and they can't because they're actively trying to lobby the laws and all that stuff.
[00:09:48] They're like, look, we can't shake the boat either way.
[00:09:50] So that was a, it was a good subject for payroll people.
[00:09:54] Cause I remember even saying, should payroll people even care about it?
[00:09:58] And yes, we should, because there's a reconciling item that we need to be aware of and customers, your employees need to know how to get customer service to it, to find out how it's working for them.
[00:10:10] You know what I mean?
[00:10:10] When I was like, I don't know you have the give room here with Elena.
[00:10:14] I think my biggest takeaway from the season that really was great for me is our guests.
[00:10:20] We had the giver, Cynthia and Elena, the founders of the giver software out of the UK and they built a new payroll from scratch and they're killing it over there.
[00:10:30] The HR pieces worldwide already and the payroll engine is just on the UK side.
[00:10:35] Yeah.
[00:10:36] What's the one thing they said they want to do, right?
[00:10:38] They said they want to be disruptors.
[00:10:39] Right.
[00:10:40] Yes.
[00:10:40] So that's what they're doing over there.
[00:10:42] They're disrupting.
[00:10:43] They, and I love how Cynthia, I kind of get the, I kind of get them confused face wise because I, they took a picture together recently and I was like, yo, you guys look like sisters.
[00:10:52] One of them said they want to, oh, Elena, because I remember Cynthia, the name thing was Cynthia.
[00:10:58] Elena said that basically it was simple statement.
[00:11:01] She's uncomplicated payroll.
[00:11:02] And I was like, I love that phrase and stuff, you know, and then to round it out, our interview with Mark Mears and I'm still reading the book.
[00:11:10] It's, it really hit home for me and it's still having impact on my day to day and my thought process and my learn, my healing, growing learning right now.
[00:11:22] My process.
[00:11:23] Yeah.
[00:11:23] If you guys haven't read, it's a great book.
[00:11:25] Mark Mears.
[00:11:26] I don't have it with me.
[00:11:26] I have a bedside.
[00:11:28] It's the purposeful leadership.
[00:11:30] Hey, this is William Tenka work to find.
[00:11:33] Hey, listen, I'd like to talk to you a little bit about inside the C-suite, the podcast.
[00:11:37] It's a look into the journey of how one goes from high school, college, whatever, all the way to the C-suite, all the ups and downs, failures, successes, all that stuff.
[00:11:47] Give it a listen.
[00:11:48] Subscribe wherever you get your podcasts.
[00:11:51] Right?
[00:11:52] Purposeful.
[00:11:53] Revolution.
[00:11:53] So my God.
[00:11:54] How do we not know?
[00:11:57] We're the worst right now.
[00:11:58] We're still waiting for my budget.
[00:12:03] You got to send me the discount code.
[00:12:05] The purpose being rule for revolution.
[00:12:08] There you go.
[00:12:09] Send me Derek to legacy builder.
[00:12:12] Purpose, yes.
[00:12:13] We had him on the show.
[00:12:14] Great guests.
[00:12:16] What else?
[00:12:16] So that was it for me.
[00:12:17] What about you?
[00:12:19] Everything you said, right?
[00:12:20] Yeah.
[00:12:21] But what's your take?
[00:12:21] Anything that resonates for you?
[00:12:23] No.
[00:12:23] You think about it?
[00:12:24] It's the same thing, right?
[00:12:25] I could.
[00:12:26] One of the things, another takeaways from our episode with Mark was what he said about purpose and passion, right?
[00:12:32] Because you and I had a little chat about it, about the B.
[00:12:35] And I'm interested with what the listeners, even those in live, what you think purpose and passion are the same, right?
[00:12:42] My initial response to Brian was, yeah, they're different.
[00:12:46] You know what I'm saying?
[00:12:47] They're totally different things.
[00:12:48] Purpose.
[00:12:49] And I went to Google and Googled everything and made sure that I was correct about that stuff.
[00:12:54] And Brian said, yeah, I would have agreed with you until I read Mark's book.
[00:12:59] Yep.
[00:13:00] Yep.
[00:13:00] And so that was a good takeaway from the interaction with Mark and some of the other things he was saying about faith over steer and different things like that.
[00:13:08] And really just get some motivation in places that was needed to, you know what I'm saying?
[00:13:13] And then another takeaway for me was the potluck episode.
[00:13:17] That was fun.
[00:13:18] That episode was so much fun.
[00:13:20] And I love the clips that went out.
[00:13:22] I think a lot of folks had a lot of fun with that.
[00:13:24] Yeah, it was good, man.
[00:13:25] It was good.
[00:13:26] It was interesting, talking about the different things.
[00:13:29] And I know that you said that you do light potlucks, right?
[00:13:34] Because everybody's cooking, right?
[00:13:36] You can't trust everybody's food, especially if you don't know them.
[00:13:38] I think it's just too many variables.
[00:13:41] You got to really know your team and have, no, it's like friends basically.
[00:13:46] Like, I don't know.
[00:13:47] It's too many variables for me to be comfortable with in a work setting.
[00:13:51] I think ordering food is much better, even if you have to pool together.
[00:13:55] If you guys are just, you know what I'm saying?
[00:13:56] Why don't everybody throw $20 in the pot and just order something?
[00:14:00] Look, bring something bad.
[00:14:01] It's something that's going to be memorable for everybody.
[00:14:04] Memorably bad.
[00:14:05] We're going to be like seeing you and then their heads are going to be like,
[00:14:14] No doubt.
[00:14:14] Yeah, they just been like, yeah.
[00:14:17] It was good.
[00:14:18] Good stuff and a lot of good takeaways.
[00:14:21] I think Mark definitely spoke to both of us about our transition in life that we're in the middle of.
[00:14:28] Now we're trying to grow from that leadership to that legacy, right?
[00:14:32] Trying to become legacy builders and build those things.
[00:14:35] And think about where I was when I was younger, right?
[00:14:39] How my mindset was more so survival-based.
[00:14:43] And now it's coming from a place of coming from a healed place, like you said, having more healing.
[00:14:48] And I'll be frank and be open, like getting that therapy, getting the healing that I need,
[00:14:54] forgiving myself and finding that forgiveness from other people, man.
[00:14:57] Like it really brought some change into my life and just really grateful.
[00:15:01] And Mark just, his words reverberated with me, resonated with me.
[00:15:05] And it's good to really hear that, man.
[00:15:08] And what about you, bro?
[00:15:11] No, again, like I said, there's just, it, I haven't even gotten that far.
[00:15:17] So in the book, he talks about seasons of life.
[00:15:21] And just in the book, he connects nature to our lives and how in life we go through different seasons, winter, spring, summer, fall.
[00:15:29] And I connected with the winter part of that.
[00:15:31] I felt, oh man, I'm shedding, getting there and then regrowth, the rejuvenation, the rebirths of things.
[00:15:38] And in that, a healing process, right?
[00:15:41] I think that's where I landed with it the most and really resonated with me.
[00:15:46] All right, man.
[00:15:47] So what about the area in a hole?
[00:15:50] What'd you take away from it?
[00:15:53] Man.
[00:15:53] Man.
[00:15:54] I don't know.
[00:15:56] I'll start, man.
[00:15:57] For me.
[00:15:58] Go for it.
[00:15:58] Yeah, please.
[00:15:59] Man.
[00:16:00] Like peaks and valleys this year.
[00:16:02] You know what I'm saying?
[00:16:04] Highs and lows.
[00:16:05] Something that you always say, don't get too high.
[00:16:08] Don't get too low.
[00:16:08] Like just stay consistent.
[00:16:11] Stay at this one level place.
[00:16:14] So you don't, you don't get too full of yourself.
[00:16:17] Hard to yourself, man.
[00:16:18] Like we got to give each other grace.
[00:16:20] Got to give ourselves grace.
[00:16:21] And just learn to really just accept that and just live in that vein.
[00:16:25] You know what I'm saying?
[00:16:26] It's so light.
[00:16:27] It's been a crazy year, man.
[00:16:28] It's, it's, it's a crazy, it's been a crazy year.
[00:16:30] It's an election year.
[00:16:32] It's been a lot of stuff.
[00:16:33] A lot of hurricanes, a lot of natural disasters have happened this year.
[00:16:39] Bro, there's still wars going on.
[00:16:40] Yeah, bro.
[00:16:41] Yeah.
[00:16:42] War.
[00:16:42] Did you know, I'm sorry to sidetrack.
[00:16:44] It's such a, you made me think of the wars.
[00:16:47] Sorry, the tangent.
[00:16:48] But did you know, and where are we on time?
[00:16:50] Yeah, we'll wrap it up soon.
[00:16:51] Did you know that the Vietnam War lasted 20 years?
[00:16:56] Hi there.
[00:16:57] I'm Peter Zollman.
[00:16:58] I'm a co-host of the Inside Job Boards and Recruitment Marketplaces podcast.
[00:17:03] And I'm Steven Rothberg.
[00:17:04] And I guess that makes me the other co-host.
[00:17:06] Every other week, we're joined by guests from the world's leading job sites.
[00:17:10] Together, we analyze news about general niche and aggregator job board and Recruitment Marketplaces sites.
[00:17:16] Make sure you sign up and subscribe today.
[00:17:21] Yeah.
[00:17:22] Yeah.
[00:17:23] I didn't know that.
[00:17:24] I didn't.
[00:17:25] In Mark's book, in the book, I'm reading and it says, maybe not Mark, I don't know, because I'm also reading Atomic Habits at the same time.
[00:17:33] And one of them said, it just had a line that said, oh, as the Vietnam War entered its 16th year.
[00:17:41] And I was like, 16 years?
[00:17:44] What are you?
[00:17:45] I've never known this.
[00:17:46] I had no.
[00:17:47] And now it makes sense because that's why people talked about it so much.
[00:17:53] And it was such an impactful war on the world and the country.
[00:17:57] But the thing lasted 20 years and so many movies on it, whatever.
[00:18:01] I did not know that, bro.
[00:18:03] Yeah.
[00:18:03] I was today years old when I realized that.
[00:18:06] I was just like, wow.
[00:18:08] No wonder.
[00:18:11] And yeah.
[00:18:12] Sorry.
[00:18:12] It's sidebar tangent.
[00:18:14] I just didn't.
[00:18:14] No, I agree.
[00:18:15] It's good, bro.
[00:18:16] Check out Mark's book again.
[00:18:18] Yeah.
[00:18:18] Purposeful.
[00:18:19] Growth Revolution.
[00:18:21] So Amazon, Audible, all those different places.
[00:18:24] Yeah.
[00:18:24] Best selling.
[00:18:25] What are your goals for next year, bro?
[00:18:27] And next season of the podcast?
[00:18:28] Man.
[00:18:29] Honestly.
[00:18:30] Oh, the podcast.
[00:18:31] And the same goal for everything in my life right now is to take what I learned and apply it.
[00:18:35] And that's really it.
[00:18:36] Just be intentional.
[00:18:37] Take what I learned.
[00:18:38] Apply it to make a change.
[00:18:40] One of the things in Atomic Habits just says 1% growth every day is still growth.
[00:18:45] Right?
[00:18:46] Like you're growing.
[00:18:47] In a year's time, that 1% growth every day is going to add up as opposed to if you don't grow
[00:18:52] or stay stagnant and not grow and decline in that year, you're going to be in a much better
[00:18:59] place in a year from now.
[00:19:00] If only you grow 1%.
[00:19:02] A lot of us are like, I want to be.
[00:19:05] We give ourselves such lofty goals.
[00:19:08] And right now is a big time at New Year's resolutions.
[00:19:10] Everybody's going to have these lofty New Year's resolutions and not hit any of them.
[00:19:15] And then welcome that cycle.
[00:19:19] I don't mind the loftiness of the goals.
[00:19:23] I just would prefer that we plan those things out and we find a plan of action.
[00:19:28] Because I could say all day, yeah, a good call out.
[00:19:31] I'm going to lose weight.
[00:19:32] Whatever I'm training out and schedule out stuff to eat properly, to eat better, to work out what I'm going to target.
[00:19:40] Then I'm just blowing hot air, basically, like you're saying, bro.
[00:19:43] Yeah.
[00:19:44] So I think we've got to have a plan of action, build those things out, talk about those different things and go from there.
[00:19:49] And we will be all right.
[00:19:50] You know what I'm saying?
[00:19:51] That's the only thing I could think of when it comes to that.
[00:19:54] And I look, because I'm a dreamer.
[00:19:58] I dream big.
[00:19:59] I dream big.
[00:20:00] You got to try to reel me in sometimes.
[00:20:03] I'm like, bring it back down to earth.
[00:20:04] I'm dreaming so much.
[00:20:06] But yeah, no, look, it's a good yin and yang, right?
[00:20:10] Because I've learned to let you go with it.
[00:20:13] And not why, right?
[00:20:15] Dream.
[00:20:16] Dare to dream, right?
[00:20:17] And just be like, now I've gotten to a point where I'm like, yes, that is the dream.
[00:20:21] And then how do we get there?
[00:20:23] Just like you said, the plan, right?
[00:20:26] How do we get to that part?
[00:20:27] Just like we're working out.
[00:20:29] Just like when you start working out in the beginning, you may not necessarily see all the weight drop.
[00:20:36] Muscles pop or whatever it is that you're trying to do.
[00:20:40] And, but if you stay consistent, then you'll start to see change little by little.
[00:20:45] Just like with this podcast that we've been doing for so long.
[00:20:48] There's been moments, man, just being transparent.
[00:20:50] There's been moments where we've been like, is this it?
[00:20:54] Yeah.
[00:20:54] And we're like.
[00:20:55] No, I'm done.
[00:20:56] Let's wrap it up.
[00:20:57] You know what I'm saying, right?
[00:20:58] So, but you got to keep going and keep pushing.
[00:21:00] And for me next year, the goal is to keep expanding, to keep challenging ourselves, to learn more, to become better, to educate and empower.
[00:21:09] Not only ourselves, but those who are listening to us and associated with us.
[00:21:14] Yep.
[00:21:14] That's what it is for me, man.
[00:21:16] Yep.
[00:21:17] That's what it is for me, man.
[00:21:18] Yeah.
[00:21:19] Shout out to everybody in the live rich walk.
[00:21:21] Malarko.
[00:21:23] Everybody that's been here.
[00:21:24] Give us some luck, some love, some likes, whatever.
[00:21:27] Thank you for joining our first live.
[00:21:29] All right.
[00:21:30] Be easy on us.
[00:21:31] Our first time.
[00:21:32] Let us know.
[00:21:33] Give us some comments.
[00:21:34] What do you guys want to see?
[00:21:35] What do you guys like in lives?
[00:21:36] I was just watching somebody I follow do her live fest and whatnot.
[00:21:40] And she's a good, she's a good, how can I say personality?
[00:21:43] She does.
[00:21:44] I think it's Crystal Vargas.
[00:21:45] She does the congas.
[00:21:46] She plays the congas and whatnot.
[00:21:48] Okay.
[00:21:48] But yeah, man, I think we, oh, you got a little payroll pop quiz here.
[00:21:52] Yeah, man.
[00:21:53] I got a little payroll pop quiz.
[00:21:54] I like it.
[00:21:55] Okay.
[00:21:55] How do we do this then?
[00:21:57] All right.
[00:21:57] So I came up with these questions, so I didn't tell you anything because I figured
[00:22:01] maybe it'll prompt him to get his own questions for me or whatever.
[00:22:05] I know the answers to these because I've been research before.
[00:22:07] So I just wanted to pop quiz.
[00:22:09] Okay.
[00:22:09] So it's my pop quiz.
[00:22:10] Yeah.
[00:22:11] Yeah.
[00:22:11] All right.
[00:22:12] All right.
[00:22:13] So you ask and I'll see.
[00:22:16] All right.
[00:22:17] So we've got three questions.
[00:22:19] So question number one, what is another term for a tech stack?
[00:22:25] Technical stacking.
[00:22:26] B, a solution stack.
[00:22:28] C, AI take over.
[00:22:31] Or D, our tech deck.
[00:22:33] I think there's a possibilities here, but I'm going to go with B, solution stack.
[00:22:38] Right.
[00:22:38] You'll see that.
[00:22:38] That's what that big OA is good for.
[00:22:40] Right?
[00:22:41] All right.
[00:22:42] Cool.
[00:22:43] All right.
[00:22:44] Number two, what is the industry, when I say industry standard, I'm talking about payroll.
[00:22:49] Payroll.
[00:22:49] So what is the industry standard ratio for a payroll pro to an employee?
[00:22:55] E, depends on the company's setup or needs.
[00:22:59] B, one payroll pro for every 250 employees.
[00:23:02] C, one payroll pro for every 1,425 employees.
[00:23:08] Or D, one payroll pro for every 2,500 employees.
[00:23:13] Leading a growing business, it's like building a plane while flying it.
[00:23:17] Team building, decision making, and scaling all at once.
[00:23:21] At CPO Playbook, we get it.
[00:23:23] That's why our podcast, ranked in the top 10% worldwide, tackles the toughest leadership
[00:23:28] challenges with insights to help you lead smarter and grow faster.
[00:23:32] Tune into the CPO Playbook podcast because leadership doesn't come with a manual, but we're
[00:23:37] pretty close.
[00:23:44] Okay.
[00:23:44] Okay.
[00:23:44] We literally did these.
[00:23:46] You actually did the research, but I feel like it may have changed.
[00:23:51] So honestly, I'm torn here between C or D.
[00:23:55] Really?
[00:23:56] Okay.
[00:23:56] You got to pick one, bro.
[00:23:57] I got to pick one.
[00:23:58] All right.
[00:23:58] I want to go D then.
[00:23:59] 2,500.
[00:24:00] One pro for every 25.
[00:24:02] It's C.
[00:24:02] According to Deloitte, Deloitte said that the standard right now is.
[00:24:07] It's still.
[00:24:08] 4,125, but there was the caveat that they said, hey, it can depend on the company's
[00:24:15] setup.
[00:24:16] Setup.
[00:24:16] But they reduced it with that 1,425.
[00:24:19] I thought about that too.
[00:24:20] So basically A is C, but A plays a, okay, I like it.
[00:24:24] I'll be tricky with it.
[00:24:25] No, I like it.
[00:24:26] Yeah.
[00:24:26] You did a good job.
[00:24:27] I like it.
[00:24:27] All right.
[00:24:28] And then last but not least.
[00:24:29] We got to hit our guests with this.
[00:24:31] Yeah.
[00:24:32] Number three.
[00:24:33] What year was the APA, now Payroll Org, founded?
[00:24:38] So 1985, C, 1989, or D, 1980?
[00:24:46] What's up, SRT?
[00:24:48] I think that's SRT.
[00:24:50] I'm going to say 85.
[00:24:55] A.
[00:24:55] B, 1982.
[00:24:58] That was close.
[00:24:59] Damn it.
[00:24:59] You're a bro.
[00:25:01] No doubt.
[00:25:02] That was dope.
[00:25:02] I like that.
[00:25:03] We got to hit our payrollers with this.
[00:25:04] I was actually thinking of, have you seen the payroll pro from Papaya Globe?
[00:25:09] I think it's Lindsay Plum or something like that.
[00:25:11] She's doing a, she does like little clips and she does a pop quiz, but she's doing it
[00:25:18] on the global level for payrollers.
[00:25:20] So she's, oh, what country has this, that, and the third compliance?
[00:25:24] And people got to guess what country it is based on the compliance for that
[00:25:27] country.
[00:25:28] So that's cool.
[00:25:29] Like we should do something like that for the states, do a state side, what states do
[00:25:33] that.
[00:25:34] Yeah.
[00:25:34] Some fun stuff out there.
[00:25:35] I love what payrollers are doing out there.
[00:25:37] I think we're the first on TikTok going live.
[00:25:39] As we continue to break ground and set the trend and the standard for what payroll content providers
[00:25:47] should be doing.
[00:25:48] We will continue to make history on our show with our guests.
[00:25:52] First on ever podcast.
[00:25:54] They come on payroll.
[00:25:55] It's about payroll first.
[00:25:57] So check that out.
[00:25:58] For folks on that are listening live right now.
[00:26:00] If you're not in the payroll, what's up with Ricky Perry.
[00:26:03] What up?
[00:26:04] And you want to learn a little bit about your check.
[00:26:06] We also have a show called.
[00:26:07] It's about your paycheck that we're going to switch to right after this.
[00:26:11] We're going to, and I think we should just stay live while we switch and whatnot.
[00:26:14] And just let them see the backend.
[00:26:17] If you actually go live with us now, if we stay consistent with it, you could actually
[00:26:22] hear the show early, right?
[00:26:24] In real time instead of the recorded edited version that will come out in a week from
[00:26:27] now.
[00:26:28] Because what we're recording right now won't come out for another week.
[00:26:31] Where are we at?
[00:26:32] 28 minutes.
[00:26:32] Oh, wow.
[00:26:33] We still are good on time.
[00:26:34] Yeah.
[00:26:35] We didn't get too heavy with content today because it's a season of review.
[00:26:40] Holidays.
[00:26:40] Happy holidays to everybody.
[00:26:43] Whatever.
[00:26:43] You celebrate.
[00:26:45] Jor.
[00:26:46] What up, Jor?
[00:26:47] Yeah.
[00:26:48] So I think that's it.
[00:26:51] That's it, bro.
[00:26:52] We love you.
[00:26:54] Peace.
[00:26:55] Peace.
[00:27:02] Before we sign off, here are a couple of quick things.
[00:27:05] Don't forget to follow It's About Payroll on LinkedIn and it's about your paycheck on Facebook
[00:27:10] and TikTok.
[00:27:12] Thank you for being part of our payroll community and thank you for being a part of this journey
[00:27:18] with us.
[00:27:19] Until the next time, keep learning.
[00:27:21] Keep growing.
[00:27:21] And most importantly, keep going.
[00:27:24] Keep going.
