[00:00:00] Hey, everyone.

[00:00:04] Thanks for joining the podcast today.

[00:00:06] I got a returning guest.

[00:00:09] You could call him a payroll legend.

[00:00:10] That's the one and only Pete Kiliakka.

[00:00:12] Hey, Pete, how are you, sir?

[00:00:14] Hey, good, man.

[00:00:15] I appreciate you.

[00:00:16] Legend is a bit much.

[00:00:17] But yeah, thank you so much, man.

[00:00:18] It's good to be back on your show.

[00:00:20] I'm a fan, so you know I listen regularly.

[00:00:23] Man, likewise, you got your I mean, you know, I've spent my career working in this area, right, more on the tech side, obviously right now with that. But you know, it certainly is a thinkless job and, you know, so many people that are given their all and their day in and day out,

[00:01:42] right, their dedication time effort to make sure all the people are paid and paid appropriately. incredibly close to my heart. It's been the fuel of my career and it's taken me to some amazing places, right? I gave a speech at payroll org last year. I've gone to 20 plus countries now because of payroll. Yeah, it's been great, right? And I'm sure you have as well, man. It's been a phenomenal ride. And look, for me, what I want to do is I want to shine a light

[00:03:03] on what this community does.

[00:03:05] So much of what they do, for me, my listeners, there's a lot of people in the SAP SuccessFactors ecosystem, but they're not all practitioners, right? They're not the people that are running the payroll. There's a lot of people on the technology side of it, right?

[00:04:20] Not just vendors, but at partners or implementing it. And all of that is incredibly, incredibly important. But what we fail to do in any of these is really ask these practitioners and these leaders, how are you doing? How are you feeling? And why do you feel that way? And what would make you more successful? What's making you successful now? And how can your leadership champion you as a value added part of the organization?

[00:05:43] How do you make a better, bigger strategic impact?

[00:05:46] We tend to whip payroll and say, from them, right? We want to know how invested is your organization in payroll? How well invested is your leadership in championing payroll, right? Things like that. We want to really get to understand the psychology of how payroll is being treated, how it's being invested and viewed, and how or how not effective it is in these organizations

[00:07:00] and moving the ball on strategic impact.

[00:07:03] Okay, it makes sense.

[00:07:05] Yeah, I like that. we could go now. And we will be running this through the end of March. So basically March 22nd. So we're asking everyone, yeah, jump in on this, get in. We've got many, many of the payroll orgs, payroll org, GPA, CIPP, the Australian payroll association, TAPS, the GPA. Many of them are getting on board slowly every day.

[00:08:20] Yeah, I'm so, so, so thankful for that help.

[00:08:23] It's really putting it into the hands of what I hope

[00:08:26] is every practitioner around the world, Yeah, absolutely. I mean, you've given expertise that goes across, you know, one vendor or product or technology. And I think that is very valuable. And I think that speaks to, you know, the beginning of this conversation of, you know, you being able to connect things. So super cool to see that you also have the support of some of these, you know, big payroll organizations. But I'm not surprised,

[00:09:42] right? I know you've done a lot around the world, we're committing to some presentations for their members as well. And look, one of the things I want to point out about this survey that's very, very critical

[00:11:00] that people know about it, not only is this survey, and this leads to your question here,

[00:11:05] is not only is this survey very, first of its kind, in my opinion, in fact, I don't anyone that participates, anyone that wants it. We're going to make it accessible on our site. I'm in talks with a few other organizations that are willing to share this information once it's live, who are also helping us. We do have vendors that are reaching out to their community of practitioners and customers, but no one is sponsoring this. No one is profiting.

[00:12:20] And all of this data will remain with 360 see if you have anything more to add. So like, once you get the results, you unleash it. I mean, you kind of mentioned that you want to take this and annualize it. But what's the vision? Anything else to add on that? You know, where it goes after it's kind of unveiled?

[00:13:44] Yeah, you know, I mean, look, if I had to say there's one thing I hope I can accomplish from all this, man, honestly, it's just to change the narrative on payroll.

[00:14:42] around what really goes on in payroll. And it's so much more than just the employee experience.

[00:14:45] And it has massive and can have massive ramifications,

[00:14:48] positive or negative to the business.

[00:14:50] And we just wanna put a shine a light on that.

[00:14:52] And we wanna help these practitioners understand

[00:14:55] where they stand and help them elevate themselves as well.

[00:14:58] Yeah, sounds good.

[00:14:59] Well, certainly a noble cause

[00:15:01] and I also love how you're being so genuine about it, right?

[00:15:04] You're not trying to profit off this research

[00:15:07] or anything like that,
