Engineering & Production Personnel

I started out in a smokey office of about eight people specializing in engineering and production personnel. Plant Managers, Maintenance Managers, Plant Engineers, and Designers; these were our normal fare.

Sales Representatives

After a few years, I went to work on my own. My focus became sales reps. Soon, I was joined by a friend, an excellent recruiter who liked tinkering with his PC, so we began to focus on IT sales and marketing personnel. We did a lot of work with hardware distributors.

Retained Search

My partner went to work for Deloitte & Touche in their Executive Search practice and eventually, I began to work on contracts for Deloitte and other retained search firms like PwC.

Working with big brand companies exposed me to a wide range of senior searches in the public and private sectors, and I also did a lot of work recruiting internal and external auditors.

Once the big consulting firms decided to close their recruiting practices, I continued to work with the smaller organizations that spun off from them, serving the same type of client.

USA

In 2009, I began to work on occasional searches with American recruiters I've met online in the USA. It's really no different from working in Canada.
